Meta @ AfroTech

To make a splash on the expo hall floor, Meta popped up at AfroTech to showcase VR & AR experiences crafted by both established and emerging Black creators. We aimed to excite Afrotech attendees on the future of Meta’s offerings and the potential to work with this industry leader.

We created a multifunctional hub, that attracted curious Afrotech attendees, creating a place to gather, share and engage.

In the Expo Hall Booth, we strengthened candidates’ perceptions and showcased experiences that resonated with the Black diaspora.

Attendees were invited to take a historical journey through Gabe Gault’s pioneering “I AM A MAN” VR experience in a mini-theater using Meta Quest 2 headsets.

The expo hall booth featured a spotlight on Black creators who make content with Meta while forging inroads for digital art and Black narratives.

Custom AR filters from five Black creators were featured, along with bios and QR codes to engage with their interactive pieces.

Interactive screens featured new innovations presented by Meta Immersive Learning and connected candidates to informative resources and Meta Spark training curriculum.  Participants were inspired to upskill using free resources, courses and certifications to start building for the metaverse that they want to see and be a part of.
